In the western part of Iran the province of Kurdistan is situated. The capital today is Sanandaj, but in carpet context the older name is still used, Senneh. Carpets from the city of Senneh give an elegant impression with a fine design and tasteful patterns. Senneh carpets are known for their patterns, which are quite classic. The Herati pattern, for example, or the boteh are common, in dark blues and reds as are many Kurdish rugs.
