Karabaugh rugs were woven in the Karabaugh region in the south of the Caucasian mountains in present day Armenia, just north of the border of Iran, and previously part of the Persian Empire. Antique Karabaugh have probably the most varied patterns of all Caucasian rugs with diverse floral and geometric designs. And many Karabaugh rugs are more Persian in style and weave.
