This handwoven Malayer rug, steeped in historical significance, showcases the intricate craftsmanship of Persian artisans with its elaborate patterns and earthy color palette. It presents a sophisticated symphony of florals and geometric shapes that effortlessly blend with both traditional and modern interiors. Designed to be a unique centerpiece, this rug is notable for its textural depth and the artist's skillful use of natural dyes. The size of this exceptional Malayer is 5'6" x 13'8", perfect for creating an intimate and cultured ambiance in spacious rooms.
Malayer rugs are made by semi-nomadic people living in the Malayer district near Arak, between Hamadan’s major weaving areas and Saruk in Northwest Persia. The designs range from diamond or hexagon shaped medallions to all-over patterns, such as the classic Herati pattern. Although Malayer rugs were produced from classical Persian sources, they tend to be fairly geometric and abstract, with soft coloration and occasional dark blues and reds.
Our collection includes new and vintage/antique handmade rugs, each with its own unique characteristics and color variations, enhancing their individuality and charm. We do our best to accurately depict colors and areas of variation/repair/wear in our photos. We invite you to embrace the inherent beauty of these variations, as they contribute to the authenticity and allure of our handcrafted rugs.
