Description
This handwoven Persian Saruk rug embodies the deep-rooted artistry and craftsmanship of the ancient weaving traditions of Persia, presenting detailed florals and intricate patterns in a rich color scheme. The rug's pile is crafted from lustrous wool, giving it a soft and inviting texture that complements its visual elegance, making it a timeless addition to any contemporary space. At once traditional and versatile, this piece brings a touch of subtle sophistication to modern homes, blending seamlessly with varied aesthetics. This Saruk rug measures 3'3" x 4'9", offering an accent of historical charm and artisanal quality.
Saruk rugs were produced in Saruk, Arak, and the surrounding countryside in the Markazi Province of Iran. For much of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, rugs exported from Iran to the USA were dyed to a desirable, deep, raspberry red color, since Americans had an affinity for the curvilinear and floral designs, but not the color. Saruk rugs continue to be produced today, using the same methods as during early production, with the exception of the post-production dye job.
Our collection includes new and vintage/antique handmade rugs, each with its own unique characteristics and color variations, enhancing their individuality and charm. We do our best to accurately depict colors and areas of variation/repair/wear in our photos. We invite you to embrace the inherent beauty of these variations, as they contribute to the authenticity and allure of our handcrafted rugs. Expert repairs and restoration available as needed.
