This Afghan Oushak rug, steeped in the rich heritage of Turkish design, showcases the artistry and craftsmanship of skilled artisans. Its muted palette of greys and subtle orange accents brings a sophisticated yet understated elegance to any space, harmonizing with both modern and traditional decor. The gentle variation in pile height adds a tactile dimension that invites touch, reflecting the unique characteristics of hand-knotted textiles. Measuring 8'1" x 9'11", this rug is a beautiful testament to time-honored techniques, offering durability and timeless style.

Oushak rugs originated in the small town of Oushak in west-central Anatolia, just south of Istanbul, Turkey. The designs are highly influenced by Persian designs and were highly favored in the Ottoman Empire. They are typically based on large scale geometric or floral motifs. The dyes tend toward muted earth tones, gold, blue, green, ivory or grey. Today, modern interpretations of the Oushak are being created in various rug weaving centers of the world.

Our collection includes new and vintage/antique handmade rugs, each with its own unique characteristics and color variations, enhancing their individuality and charm. We do our best to accurately depict colors and areas of variation/repair/wear in our photos. We invite you to embrace the inherent beauty of these variations, as they contribute to the authenticity and allure of our handcrafted rugs. Expert repairs and restoration available as needed.
