Description

A proper pad is essential to the performance, safety, and longevity of your rug. The right padding prevents slipping, reduces wear on the foundation and knots, improves comfort underfoot, and helps rugs lie flat and stay in place.

All of our pads are custom cut to size, trimmed slightly smaller than your rug on all sides for a clean, seamless fit. We offer multiple professional-grade options and are happy to help you choose the best pad based on your rug, flooring, and lifestyle.

Pricing & Custom Fit

Our rug pads are $2.50 per square foot and are custom cut for each rug, leaving the pad approximately 1.5” smaller on all sides to ensure it remains hidden and fits perfectly.

DuraHold® Rug Pad (Hard Surface Floors)

Ideal For:
Rugs placed on hard surface flooring including hardwood, tile, concrete, Saltillo, stone, and laminate.

Description:
Approximately 1/4” thick, DuraHold® is our most popular and highest-performing rug pad. It features a two-part construction: a natural latex rubber backing that grips the floor without damaging finishes, and a dense recycled felt surface that grips your rug while providing cushioning and protection.

We’ve carried this pad for over 40 years, and it is widely considered the top-of-the-line rug pad. It is also the only pad we recommend for use on hardwood floors, as it will not stain, discolor, or break down when used properly.

Carpet Pad

Ideal For:
Medium to large rugs installed on top of wall-to-wall carpeting.

Description:
Approximately 1/4” thick, this dense synthetic fiber pad is designed specifically for rugs placed over carpet. It adds structure and firmness beneath the rug, preventing sinking, shifting, or bunching underfoot.

Unlike rubber-backed pads, this option allows the rug to sit securely on carpeted surfaces without gripping too aggressively, making it ideal for larger rugs where stability and even weight distribution are key.

Low Profile Underlayment

Ideal For:
Small rugs, doorways with clearance issues, entry rugs, runners, and rugs needing extra grip without added height.

Description:
Approximately 1/16” thick, this felt-like, low-profile pad provides strong grip while keeping thickness to a minimum. It is dual-sided for versatility:

Gray side up for rugs placed on carpet

White side up for rugs placed on hard floors

This pad is ideal when height is a concern or when a traditional cushioned pad would be too thick.

We can't say enough good things about this business. Not only did they do a great job cleaning a dhurrie rug for us, but Ali, their master carpet repair man, repaired a treasured rug for us after we thought it had been destroyed by the dry cleaners. The rug, a remnant from the old Mountain Oyster Club downtown, was torn in several places when we foolishly sent it to be dry cleaned.
